Things You Need to Know about School Violence

School violence is an issue which is threatening to eliminate the future of this country i.e. the children by making them victims of their own actions. School violence takes many forms. It can be bullying or physical abuse done by the dominant students in the school over the lesser aggressive or timid children. Verbal abuse is another form of violence in schools which does have a serious impact on the psychology of a child. And any other forms of violence like murder, theft, bombings etc are also included in school violence because students of this decade are not afraid to go to the extremes.

 

So it is very important that we as a responsible parent or a teacher or a student or simply as a citizen of a country to understand school violence in a much broader perspective in order to avoid the instances of school violence. Had the students and teaching staffs been responsible and fair in their actions then there would not have been any instance of a Columbine High School massacre or a Virginia Tech killings. Well, past is past and we will have to move on and it should be our duty to understand and make schools a better place than it is at present.

 

School violence can happen in many ways. It may be due to either the dominant children beating up the timid children or it can be due to these timid children who beyond their limits give out an outburst of fury which cannot be controlled. But the factors which contribute to school violence have to be understood rather than the ones responsible for school violence. As said earlier, it is mainly because of the dominant half of children that school violence occurs. So steps should be taken to eliminate such children.

 

An arrogant child can be tamed with love and affection. So, as a responsible parent it is very important that you look after your child in a proper manner and give him sufficient attention and care so that he never deviates from his normal self. Also a parent should all the activities of your arrogant child. Make sure that he never gets into any kind of misleading activities or activities that can potentially harm your ward in the future. It is also very important for the parents to understand the fact that a bad friends’ circle can very well do the damage for your child.

 

Another important thing about school violence is that it can be controlled only with strict policies and measures. The school authorities should be severe on students who indulge in unnecessary activities like bullying and brawls. But they should not be severe in a manner that it affects an arrogant child psychologically. If the student is too aggressive and arrogant to be controlled then the school authorities should consider giving him a transfer certificate. School violence can be kept under control if each and every individual related to the matters of school and students have a healthy knowledge and understanding about such a situation.
